Winter Season 2024 / 25
The venue for winter croquet is at St Brannock’s Rooms in Braunton, we play on Monday from 12.30 until 3.30. If you would like to come along and meet us and try out indoor croquet please do. All equipment is provided at the venue. You need to wear comfortable clothes and it is best to wear trousers so that you can swing the mallet. Tea and coffee is available at the venue.
Please see the directions and a map below to help you find us
Travelling along the A361 through Braunton towards Ilfracombe on the left hand side you pass the George Hotel just before the main junction in the village, go straight on past the Parish Hall and the Vivian Moon Centre also on the left. Braunton Parish Church is on the right hand side of the road. The fire station is on the left and St Brannock’s Rooms are on the right opposite the fire station. As you turn right into Church Street St Brannock’s Rooms are immediately left through the gateway. There is car parking at the venue. Come in the door and the hall we use is on the left through a doorway. Postcode is EX332EL.
Croquet is a game that can be played and enjoyed by people of any age. At our Club we play golf croquet, which is a game of skill and tactics. The basics are quick to learn although players will find they are constantly improving as they play. Men and women play and compete on equal terms.
We are a small and very friendly Club based in Barnstaple, and as such you do not need to book time on the lawns or come with others to play, as everyone here is quite happy to play with each other.
Our Club days are Monday and Thursday from 10.00 and usually end around 14.30. Our Outdoor Season starts at the beginning of April and continues until the end of September. We will be playing indoors at a new venue this year at Braunton, initially on Mondays from October to December, but please see Club News or contact us for details.
Croquet is the most well kept secret among sports, mainly because it is a sport to be played rather than watched. It is not only good exercise for both body and brain but is a chance to relax and socialise in a friendly group in beautiful surroundings.
