2025 Club Competition Media

The internal club competition for doubles was a very enjoyable day with a lot of closely fought games and everybody playing well, the eventual winners of the doubles were Colin Brennan and Caroline Palmer and Mella Wright and David Freer were the runners up.

The handicap singles competition was contested by 19 players who played in 4 leagues, the winners of the leagues were Anne Young, Gwen Disney, Richard Banbury (who beat Colin Brennan in a playoff as they had the same number of points and the same hoops for and against) and Roger Beels. Two semi finals were played to decide the finalists. In the first semi final Richard Banbury beat Roger Beels and in the second semi final Anne Young beat Gwen Disney. Richard Banbury won the final with a lot of good play although Anne Young competed well. Everyone had a great day and the standard of play was good and a great number of matches were very closely fought.

The level play singles came at the end of a day when many of the matches were decided by a single hoop. After the leagues played, the winners of the semi finals were Ray Young and MikeWright. The final was another hard fought match between  them which went to the golden hoop  and was enjoyed by all. Mike Wright won out and was presented with the cup.

The Ladies Rosebowl had Caroline Lumb and Gwen Disney facing each other in the final, and Gwen Disney took the cup by winning for the second year.

In the Men’s competitions the finalists were Richard Banbury and Graham Varcoe who played out a very tactical game, which was clinched by Richard Banbury.

The top league of the ladder was jointly shared by Keith Abraham and Richard Banbury. Caroline Palmer won the second league, well done to everyone that took part this year.

Well done to everyone who took part in all of the competitions, which as always were very well organised by Mike Wright. My thanks to Mike Wright for organising these events so well
